How Easy is it to Grow a Rubber Plant?

Posted on December 30, 2019 at 7:49 pm

The ficus trifecta group of plants are relatively easy to grow, and the rubber plant is supposedly the easiest of them all. However, it will need specialist care and an owner who knows what they are doing to keep it healthy and thriving all year round. Here are some tips for keeping a rubber plant healthy, showing that it’s easy to take care of one, but might just take a little preparation:

  • Position it in a bright spot. Rubber plants definitely need sunlight. Place yours near to a window, preferably one that is south facing, or even near to multiple windows.
  • It doesn’t take too much watering. Rubber plants are relatively low maintenance in this respect. You should water them every seven days or so in summer and less in winter.
  • You can keep the house at a steady temperature. Rubber plants shouldn’t be too fussy and should thrive whatever the temperature, so think about you, not the plants.

Can you Grow a Spider Plant Out of Doors?

Posted on January 30, 2019 at 11:19 am

Many people grow spider plants in their homes, but did you know it is also possible to grow these plants in the great outdoors? It’s possible to keep them outside and keep them very healthy as well, as long as you are a little bit careful about where you position them and spend some time thinking about it first.

Spider plants will probably grow best in containers, but do be aware that they will usually outgrow their containers quite quickly. As a houseplant, they will usually need re-potting every year or two, so it’s a good idea to plant them in big enough outdoor containers that you won’t have to replant them quite so often – this might not be quite as convenient for you. They also need to be in pots that will drain well, so the soil doesn’t become saturated, and they will need to have enough sunlight, but not too much.
