Garden

Can you transform your garden cheaply?

Since the outbreak of Covid 19 and the following lockdown period people have begun to see their garden more and more as an extension of their home and have started putting a lot of thought into the planning and maintenance of their garden. The cost of renovating a garden can be great but with help from family and friends if possible, the perfect garden could be within reach.

The first step to the garden of your dreams is to measure it out and draw a simple plan. This will enable you to try out ideas on paper before starting any of the hard construction work. The internet has lots of ideas for planning a garden design if you are unsure where to start.

Once you have decided on a plan, mark out your garden design with pegs and string to show where edging or patio areas will be. Now will be the time to engage the help of family and friends as digging up areas of the garden is extremely hard work and the cost of hiring mechanical diggers can be expensive.

A visit to internet auction sites can be worthwhile when buying paving slabs or decking and asking around locally for any materials left over from projects is another way to reduce the costs.

The final stage of the project is the planting stage which can be costly, but money can be saved by buying plants from plant sales or car boot sales or even taking cuttings from friends and neighbours plants, with their permission obviously!
